Collaborator role
Esther Sebastián-González (ESG). Her multidisciplinary research covers the areas of ecology, conservation biology and ornithology from different perspectives. ESG has focused on understanding the factors driving the structure of terrestrial animal communities and how the habitat and the interactions among the species influence them at local and macroecological scales. ESG is specialized in applying network analyses to solve ecological problems, covering several study systems worldwide.
ESG has a large experience studying seed-dispersal interactions and waterbird communities, and is the lead author of the first paper evaluating the network structure of waterbird seed-dispersal networks. Thus, her main roles will be 1) to help in the organization of the seed-dispersal database so that it can be assessed using network analyses, 2) to coordinate students that will help in looking for animal and plant traits to fill the traits database, 3) to take part in the identification of the main ecological questions that can be answered with the database, 4) take the lead in the analysis of network metrics and assist other colleagues in their use and 5) participate in the writing of scientific papers.
