Collaborator role
Joël Gautron is Directeur de Recherche and a senior scientist at INRAE, Centre Val de Loire, Nouzilly (Scopus: Refereed publications = 88, H-index = 34). He graduated in food biochemistry (Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers, Paris 1994), and is accredited to supervise graduate student research (HDR, Tours, France, 2009). He has been a member of the team “Défenses de l’Oeuf, Valorisation, Evolution (DOVE)” since 1983, focusing his activity on eggshell quality and its fabrication, in particular on the role of eggshell matrix proteins in the biomineralization of eggshell. He possesses an expertise in biochemistry and molecular biology related to eggshell formation and its quality and in the use of high-throughput methodologies to identify and characterize biological activities related to calcium transport in uterine cells, interaction of eggshell matrix proteins with the mineral phase and comparative biology related to eggshells. Currently he is the co-chairman of the XVIIth international symposium on Biomineralization which will be held in Saint Etienne, France August 28-September 1, 2023. He will be in residence at the University of Granada, Spain on a research collaboration with Professor Alejandro Rodriguez-Navarro from March 1 to July 31, 2024. This will overlap perfectly with the visit of Professor Hincke (February 1 – March 31, 2024) to University of Granada for stimulation of their joint research activities, including the Studium project.
