Collaborator role
Marie Bonin’s is a lawyer and has extensive experience in marine environmental protection through law makes her an invaluable contributor to the consortium’s work on leveraging legal frameworks to protect the environment. With a focus on assessing the suitability and effectiveness of legal rules for marine ecosystems, she brings a unique perspective on whether existing laws require evolution and how they can be adapted to enhance protection. Her frequent collaborations with researchers in natural and physical sciences, particularly in marine ecology, enable her to translate scientific research into actionable legal strategies. Over the past 15 years, her work on marine environmental law and being a pioneer in legal environmental indicators construction, highlights her expertise in addressing regional environmental challenges. Furthermore, her leadership roles in different projects demonstrate her ability to coordinate large, interdisciplinary teams to address the complex issues surrounding marine spatial planning and the integration of artificial intelligence in marine environmental protection. Her involvement in scientific councils and interdisciplinary research groups further solidifies her capacity to contribute to the consortium's objectives.
