Presentation
Modern cosmetics are deeply linked with natural substances. The development of bioactive ingredients relies on plant sourcing that integrates ethnobotanical approaches to selectively collect exotic plants, according to regulations governing access to these resources. Additionally, co-products derived from the processing industry are utilized. Analytical chemistry plays a pivotal role in this domain, enabling the characterization of bioactive substance profiles and optimizing their utilization through eco-extraction techniques utilizing green solvents. The appeal of these compounds lies in their interaction with our biological system, particularly in the context of skincare in cosmetics, involving oxidation and enzymatic synthesis mechanisms without displaying any toxicity. These advancements offer promising prospects for the sustainable development of natural substances in the cosmetics industry. This talk aims to introduce the field of natural substances used in cosmetics, covering subjects such as plant supply, analytical chemistry methodologies, and various biological tests employed within the cosmetics domain.
