Jean-Claude Lecron is Emeritus Professor at the Poitiers University, in France.
He has been teaching biochemistry at the Poitiers medical faculty up to 2023, and was the head of the university hospital laboratory “Immunologie et inflammation” from 2005 to 2023. He belongs to the Research laboratory " Inflammation, Tissus Epithéliaux et Cytokines " (LITEC), UR15560 he created in 2004 and directed up to 2018,
JC Lecron has a constant interest for the cytokines and inflammation. At the beginning of the 2000's, his team demonstrated the strong proinflammatory effects of cytokines on keratinocytes, especially IL-17, IL-22 and oncostatin-M, and their huge potentiating effects in combination with IL-1 and TNF, whose specific combinations mimicking inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis or AD. He reported the links between T lymphocytes (especially Th17) and skin in various inflammatory, cancerous cutaneous pathologies and the wound healing. These studies contributed to clinical perspectives for treatment of inflammatory diseases, and also keratinocyte grafts in burns.
Jean-Claude Lecron was board member of local and national scientific councils and committees (university, GREMI, CNBBMM, Cytokine group of SFI…). In this context, he organized about 12 meetings in the area of inflammation, cytokines… He is regularly invited to give national and international conferences, and to evaluate projects. Regarding his teaching activities, the Master degree at the university of Poitiers was developed under his leadership at the medical faculty, he supervised 20 PhD theses and was member of the jury of about 70 theses and 20 HDR.
He records 125 publications in international journals, 7 reviews and 4 patents in the area of cytokines and inflammation in human biology.
