Emeritus professor of contemporary history at the University of Neuchâtel since 2018. Studied at universities in Lausanne, London and Paris. Adjunct professor at the University of Lausanne (1987) and the University of Geneva (1997-1999). Lecturer at the University of Fribourg (1994-2005). Professor at the Doctoral School of Social Sciences in Bucharest (2002-2003). Visiting professor at the University of Ottawa (2016). Treasurer of the International Committee for Historical Sciences (2008-2018). Member of the Executive Board of the International Committee for Philosophy and Humanistic Studies (2013-2020).
