Ana Rivero is an evolutionary biologist working on infectious diseases. Currently serving as Directrice de Recherche at the CNRS in Montpellier, her scientific career is marked by a diverse array of research questions and experimental models. After a PhD on the behavioural ecology and sex ratio theory in parasitic wasps (Imperial College London), she worked on sexual selection in spiders, the evolution of parental care in coreid bugs, and on life history trade-offs in parasitic wasps and mosquitoes.

Her current research at the CNRS focuses on the evolutionary ecology of host-parasite interactions, particularly malaria parasites (Plasmodium sp.), investigating the genetic and environmental factors contributing to heterogeneity in parasite virulence and transmission. In the past she has been part of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the National Evolutionary Synthesis Center (NDF, US, 3 years) and of the Comité National de la Recherche Scientifique (CoNRS, Section 29: Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology, 5 years).  She is founding member and coordinator of the Montpellier Ecology and Evolution of Disease Network (MEEDiN).
