GreenCosmIn

GreenCosmIn is a project under the MSCA (Marie Skłodowska-Curie) Staff Exchanges Action. The 14-member consortium aims to establish a robust, multisectoral and interdisciplinary network to implement green approaches to the exploration and sustainable use of natural resources in cosmetics production. The project will use a range of advanced technologies - including extraction, phytochemical analysis and dereplication, in vitro screening and biotechnological production - to develop natural cosmetic ingredients and incorporate them into final products. To achieve this, academic partners specialising in natural product chemistry, biodiversity, biotechnology, cosmetology and biology work closely with non-academic partners in metabolomics, biotechnology, cosmetics and natural ingredient development. This complementarity of expertise, combined with the inclusion of associate partners from biodiversity hotspots, promotes innovative outcomes, meaningful researcher secondments that enhance career and skills development, and the establishment of strong, lasting collaborations beyond the duration of the project. The consortium is well-balanced, with seven academic beneficiaries from four EU Member States (Greece, France and French Polynesia, Germany, Poland), one academic associate partner from a Horizon Europe associated country (Tunisia) and one academic associate partner from a non-EU country (Mongolia). The expertise and training opportunities of the consortium are further strengthened by five non-academic beneficiaries from four EU Member States (Greece, Austria, Germany, France). These partners bring a wide range of specialisations, including applied natural product research and solutions, drug screening, advanced phytochemical characterisation, biotechnology and networking.

Le Studium plays a key role in the Consortium to promote scientific links between research laboratories by facilitating the exchange of international researchers from the Consortium. This includes hosting researchers from partner institutions in the Centre-Val de Loire laboratories, as well as sending researchers from these laboratories to partner institutions.  These secondments will further facilitate the development of new products and the transfer of knowledge.

This project is supported by The University of Athens, in partnership with LE STUDIUM and the Institute of Organic and Analytical Chemistry (ICOA) UMR7311 / University of Orléans.

This project has received funding from the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Staff Exchanges Action Grant Agreement No 101131346
